FAQs:

What experience level do you teach?

I currently offer lessons for beginner to intermediate violin and viola students, ages 5–12. (Suzuki Books 1-3)

Do I need my own instrument?

Yes — students will need to have their own properly sized instrument, bow, and shoulder rest. I’m happy to provide recommendations for local shops or rentals if you’re not sure where to start. It is ill-advised to purchase cheap/mass-produced instruments from sellers like Amazon.

Students will also be expected to purchase their own music books recommended by the teacher. This can be discussed in consultation prior to starting lessons.

What kind of music do you teach?

Lessons are based on Suzuki books, and adapted to each student’s needs— with flexibility to explore other genres and styles as students grow. My goal is to help each student connect emotionally and creatively with the music they play.

Do you teach online or in-person?

I currently offer lessons in convenience of your home within 30 minutes of the Nashville area. Availability for virtual lessons will be coming soon! I do not currently offer studio-based lessons.

Can parents sit in on lessons?

Absolutely! Especially for younger students, I encourage parents to quietly observe so they can support practice during the week. A parent/guardian must remain at the residence for home lessons.

What do I need to do before starting lessons?

You’ll need to complete a few quick forms before the first lesson. These help me understand your child’s needs and set us up for a smooth, supportive start. All forms are linked here.

What are the available days and times for lessons?

Lesson availability varies and is limited. I offer a small number of lesson slots each week, and times vary based on current enrollment. Please email me directly to inquire about current openings and to find a time that works best for your family.

How do I schedule lessons or get started?

Please reach out via contact form or email. I’ll follow up with a few questions to get to know you and your child and help us find the best fit.

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Cancellations require 24-hour notice to avoid being charged. If you need to reschedule, I’ll do my best to accommodate based on availability. Please refer to the policies page for more details.
